People of South Asian descent are known to be up to 6 times more likely to have type 2 Diabetes than the general population. In addition, South Asians tend to have poorer diabetes management, putting them at higher risk of serious health complications.

As November is Diabetes Month, Dr. Vasu Nallusamy will be discussing and presenting facts and useful information about how to cope with and manage a diabetes diagnosis.

Dr. Vasu Nallusamy is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with more than 20 years of experience working in different healthcare specialties.  She currently works in family medicine and retail health.  She has a strong background in chronic care management in primary care. She earned her Doctoral degree from Frontier University and Masters from University of Colorado.  She also holds a master's in public health and Bachelor of science in Nursing with honors from All India Institute of medical sciences. She has published research in Managing chronic care in primary care with focus on depression and HTN. She has recently collaborated with the case management team with CIGNA in creating specific programs for Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease for Asian Indians and she also contributes in the In-service education programs for CVS on chronic care management.
