1/4cup dried red lentils,rinsed 1 bay leaf 1 cup basmati rice,rinsed 4 cloves 4 tablespoon butter 1 teaspoon curry powder 1/2 teaspoon mild chilli powder 2 tablespoons chopped parsley, salt and ground black pepper.
Put the lentils in a pan,add the bay leaf and cover with cold water for 25-30 minutes until tender. Drain, then discard the bay leaf. After that take rice in a pan and cover with 2 cups of boiling water. Add cloves and a pinch of salt. Cook for 10- 15 minutes until rice is tender and discard the cloves. Melt the butter over gentle heat in a large pan then add the curry and chilli powder and cook for 1 minute. Stir in the lentils and rice and mix well until they are coated in the spiced butter. Season and cook for 1-2 minutes until heated through. Stir in the parsley and serve with curd.
