Hindu Charities For America (HC4A) was conceived for the purpose of providing Hindu communities across the United States an opportunity to give back to the communities who have embraced us and given us the chance to prosper. There are estimated 1.5m homeless children in the USA, 68% are of school going age. While federal gov't guarantees education for these kids, additional needs are not funded. With current recession, budgets have been slashed and the kids have needs such as school supplies, hygiene packs, counseling, tutoring, etc. Since its inception in 2010, HC has helped the Austin, Bastrop, Leander, Del Ville and Round Rock ISDs with school supplies and library books with help of Austin Hindu community. The school year 2012-13 plan is to support 600 homeless children in Manor ISD. You can help with monetary donation or volunteering your time to run the charity, donation drive and donation booths, pack school supplies, distribute school supplies, emails, face book, marketing and website.
